General

What is NextRoundOn.me?

NextRoundOn.me is a social drink gifting service that lets you buy a real drink for a friend at their local bar, even if you're in a different city. You pick a partner bar near them, choose a drink from that bar's actual menu, and pay online. Your friend gets a QR code by email and redeems it in person — no gift cards, no cash apps.

How does sending a drink online work?

Create a free account, search for a partner bar near your friend, and pick a drink from that bar's live menu. Complete checkout online, and your friend receives an email with a unique QR code. They show it to staff at the bar, it's scanned and redeemed, and the drink is poured — usually in under a minute.

Can I send a drink to someone in a different city or state?

Yes — that's the core use case. You don't need to be anywhere near the bar. As long as the bar is listed on NextRoundOn.me, you can send a drink to a friend, family member, or coworker anywhere in the country.

Is NextRoundOn.me free to use as a customer?

Yes. Creating an account and sending drinks is completely free for customers. You pay only the listed price of the drink you're sending — there's no subscription and no extra service fee added at checkout.

What happens if my friend doesn't redeem the drink?

The QR code stays valid until it's redeemed at the bar, subject to that bar's own redemption policy. Check your order status from your customer dashboard, and reach out via Contact if you need help with a specific order.

Do I need to download an app to send or receive a drink?

No app is required for either side. Customers use the website to send a drink, and recipients redeem it with the QR code sent to their email — it works from any phone browser.

Payments & Fees

Which payment methods are accepted?

Payment is processed securely online at checkout, most commonly through the bar's Stripe Connect account (the default). Some bars instead use Clover, Square, or Shift4, so you'll be directed to that processor's secure checkout. All major credit and debit cards are accepted.

Is my payment information secure?

Yes. Card details are handled directly by Stripe or the bar's connected payment processor (Clover, Square, or Shift4) at checkout — NextRoundOn.me does not store your card numbers.

How do bars sign up and what does it cost?

Bar owners register for a Starter ($29/month), Growth ($59/month), or Pro ($499/year) plan, add their menu, connect a payment processor, and start receiving orders. A limited Founder tier is also available to the first 10 venues, free for life with a reduced per-drink fee. See Pricing for full details.

Is there a commission on drink sales?

No. NextRoundOn.me charges a flat platform fee per drink redeemed (25 cents, or 15 cents on the Founder plan) instead of taking a percentage of the sale. Bars keep the full listed price of every drink.

For Bars

What happens if a bar exceeds its plan's drink menu limit?

Starter plans support up to 6 active menu items and Growth supports up to 10. Bars that need a larger menu, multiple locations, or featured placement can upgrade to Pro, which supports an unlimited number of drinks.

Can multi-location bar groups use NextRoundOn.me?

Yes. The Pro plan supports multiple sub-locations under one account, each with its own menu, staff, orders, and analytics dashboard.

Payouts & Integrations

How do bars get paid?

By default, every bar is paid out through its own Stripe Connect account — customer purchases transfer directly to the bar's bank account. Bars that already run Clover, Square, or Shift4 for in-person sales can connect that processor instead. See Integrations for setup details.

Which POS systems does NextRoundOn.me integrate with?

Stripe Connect works with any bar out of the box, no POS required. Bars already using Clover, Square, or Shift4 can connect their existing merchant account credentials instead, with support for more POS providers planned.

Do bars need new hardware to accept online drink orders?

No new hardware or terminals are required. Stripe Connect only needs a bank account. Bars using Clover, Square, or Shift4 connect their existing accounts and can start receiving orders within minutes.

What if a bar's POS system isn't supported yet?

Stripe Connect already works for any bar regardless of in-person POS, so payouts are never blocked. NextRoundOn.me is also actively expanding direct POS support beyond Clover, Square, and Shift4 — bars using another processor can reach out via the Contact page to be notified when their system is supported.
