Every bar on NextRoundOn.me is paid out automatically via Stripe Connect by default โ€” no POS required, just a bank account. But if your bar already runs on Clover, Square, or Shift4 for in-person sales, you can connect that instead of Stripe Connect so everything settles into one system. Here's what each integration looks like in practice, so you know what to expect before you connect an account.

Clover

Clover is common in independent bars and restaurant groups that want a customizable countertop system. To connect it, you'll provide your Clover Merchant ID and an API access token from your Clover developer dashboard. Once linked, orders placed through NextRoundOn.me flow directly into your existing Clover account โ€” there's no separate system to check for incoming orders.

Square

Square is a popular choice for bars that want a simple setup with strong reporting built in. Connecting Square requires your Location ID, an access token, and a webhook signature key โ€” the webhook subscription is what keeps order and payment status in sync automatically between Square and your NextRoundOn.me dashboard.

Shift4

Shift4 is purpose-built for hospitality and is common among venues that already use Shift4's hardware for in-person payments. You'll connect using a public/secret key pair (pk_/sk_). Because it's designed specifically for restaurants and bars, Shift4 tends to fit naturally alongside existing point-of-sale hardware.

So which one should you pick?

If you don't have a strong reason to route through your in-person POS, the simplest option is to stick with Stripe Connect โ€” it's already set up on your account and needs nothing beyond a linked bank account. Switch to one of the three below only if you specifically want online orders to settle through the same system you use for in-person sales:

  • Clover if you want a flexible, app-based countertop terminal.
  • Square if you want the simplest setup and strong built-in reporting.
  • Shift4 if you're specifically in hospitality and want hardware built for the industry.

What if you use something else?

Stripe Connect works regardless of which POS you run in person, so you're never blocked from getting paid. NextRoundOn.me is also actively expanding direct POS coverage beyond these three โ€” if your bar runs on a different processor, reach out and we'll let you know when support is added.

Full setup steps for each processor are on the Integrations page.
